December 11-19: Earth, curated by Rajan Krishnan. The exhibition brings together five artists, belonging to five distinct generations, and going through different phases of their careers. (at Cholamandal Artist Village).

December 23-January 19: Aham Annam an exhibition by the Arts Management Students of the Madras Craft Foundation. The exhibition focuses on the historical, ritual and health aspects of food in South India. (at DakshinaChitra)

January 6-9: Mylapore Festival with Kolam contests at 3.30 p.m. on N. Mada Street open to all. Must design traditional ‘pulli’ kolam. Register at 94446 74561. (10am and 2pm) Open to 100 entries each day. Prizes for best 15 daily.

Till January 10: Village Heritage Week celebrating Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka will feature Garagalu and Dollu Kunitha. (at DakshinaChitra)

January 14-17: Get a real feel of Pongal, the harvest festival and enjoy folk dances like Mayillattam, Poikkal Kudhirai Attam and Karagam. (at DakshinaChitra)

January 19-27: The Village Heritage Festival will feature Tappattam and Paava Kathakali from Tamil Nadu and Kerala respectively.

January 28-30: Urban Visualities – Sites and Sights of Street Art, an international seminar on popular art. The seminar will include presentations by scholars working in the area along with interactions with banner and street artists. A pre-seminar workshop will be held from January 24th to 27th which will bring together contemporary artists and banner artists. The work from this workshop will be exhibited till February 28th 2011 (at DakshinaChitra).
