The (OBA) Mantra
(By Ranjitha Ashok)

It's very simple.

"Since you like this slogan so much, I will start by saying 'Yes You Can' for washing and cleaning the vessels!"

You want change?

Then say "Yes, you can"…like you believe it.

Isn't that a power trip?

Imagine being part of a huge force of humanity, all on the same page, wanting to make something happen, making sure it does.

Now imagine using that proactive catch phrase here.

Can you create a world where lines of vehicles choose discipline and patience over the 'Me-Me-Me-First" school of driving?

Yes, you can.

Can you accept that a queue by definition means one behind the other, and politely waiting your turn?

Yes, you can.

Can you develop a collective compassion that ensures you avoid using mega-mega phones when children are studying, or holding traffic-snarling rallies that wreak havoc on commuters?

Yes, you can.

Can you develop a sense of this-is-ours-too that stops you from treating your surroundings like private garbage disposals or toilets?

Yes, you can…and awaken civic consciousness by collectively working on alternatives.

Can you see mitigating the present power crisis as shared responsibility…with examples set by those …er…in power – so to speak?

You hope everyone can.

Stop competing with artistes through those cell-phone counter-orchestras? Switch off cable TV and start a conversation?

Yes, you can.

All this and plenty more.

If you want to…

Yes, you can...
