July 19-30: An exhibition of “Contemporary Picture Book Illustration in Germany” offering a look into the work of 13 well-known German illustrators. The participating artists were invited to choose five illustrations each out of their picture books and to give reasons for their choice. Thus, the exhibition offers a very personal and immediate encounter with artists and the broad spectrum of techniques (Goethe Institute, 5.30 p.m.). Also an Art Workshop in cooperation with the students of the Department of Fine Arts, Stella Maris College, on illustration techniques for schoolchildren from the city in the age group of 6-11 years. The students will be divided into groups and will be given stories from Indian history, folklore and mythology. Each student will have to come up with the illustration for an event in the story drawn from any one Indian tradition. (By registration only at Goethe Institute, 10 a.m.-5.30 p.m.)
