Till September 20: As part of the Vinayaka Chaturthi celebration, DakshinaChitra presents Celebrating Ganesha, an exhibition of metal reliefs, sculpture and paintings by Chennai-based artists S. Hemalatha, S. Saravanan and M.S. Geetha, who have been apprenticed under the eminent artist M. Senathipathi (at DakshinaChitra Art Gallery).
Till September 26: 44 years of Cholamandal Artists’ Village: An exhibition of paintings, sculpture and drawings (at Cholamandal Centre for Contemporary Art, Injambakkam).
Till September 30: Paintings by children organised by the Asmae Trust. Bro. Siga Animation Centre recently had a working camp for 55 children of two primary schools in Chennai (Magazinepuram and Ganesapuram). Four Asmae volunteers taught the children the art of painting and drawing. The children were taught how to mix colours, draw pictures and paint for four days during the camp. They were also taught to paint on canvas, cloth, and to make masks. The children drew and painted pictures according to the stories they themselves created. The pictures helped them to improve their imagination, concentration and creativity (at the Alliance Francaise).
September 24-30: Exhibition of digital caricatures and cartoons (at DakshinaChitra Art Gallery).

September 30: Handmade paper-making workshop for children (at DakshinaChitra).
October 1-30: Let Us Smile by Aravind M, a photography exhibition marking 20 years of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Aravind has photographed and captured through the lens the beautiful smiles of innocent children from the underprivileged communities who are the most vulnerable and whose basic rights have very often been violated. Aravind is a documentary film-maker who works on environmental and children’s issues.
