Till October 31: Let us Smile, photography exhibition by Aravind, M. who has photographed and captured through the lens the beautiful smiles of innocent children from underpriviledged communities.The exhibition is a reminder to us that we need to join hands and work together so that children all over the world enjoy their rights that they can keep their beautiful smiles on (at Alliance Francaise).

October 19-22: An exhibition of paintings by Manohar Devadoss in aid of the Sankara Nethralaya Eye Hospital and the Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai (at Lakshana Art Gallery).

October 20-30: Solo exhibition of paintings by Deepak Sonar (Pune), Panchabhuta, comes alive with magical colours and textures on canvas. (At Prakrit Art Gallery.)

October 30-31: The Phou-oibi dance by the Laihui group from Manipur. (At DakshinaChitra, 4 p.m.)

October 28-November 4: Exhibition of Lamps (at Dakshina­Chitra).

October 30: Zinx plays con­temprorary world fusion music, basically integrating the East and the West. The band plays various genres of music – from jazz to blues to funk to classical to even folk. Zinx comprises Anirudh, Kishor and Vivek. (At Alliance Francaise.)

October 30: Pradeep Chakra­­varthy repeats his favourite walk till date! A tour of the Dhenu­pureeswara temple in Madam­bakkam (off Vela­­chery Main Road, between Pallikaranai and Tambaram). The temple is not only rich in inscriptions that are related to the functioning of a Chola bureaucracy but has some stunning and very rare Vijaya­nagar sculptures, many that cannot be seen elsewhere! October 29-31: The 39 Steps, a play by Evam. Four actors play 150 roles in an absolute masterpiece of visual humour and comic timing. (At Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Hall, 3.30 and 7.30 p.m.)

November 1: Qawwall and Ghazai Evening. Amir Khusro Sangeet Academy presents S. Murad Aatish from Pune (at Museum Theatre, 7 p.m.).
