Till October 23: Nuances through Light, an exhibition of photographs by A.I. Karthik (at Art n Soul).

October 22-23: Day workshops on folk dances of Tamil Nadu – Thappattam and Oyilattam (for adults) (at DakshinaChitra, for details contact 98842 17393.)

October, Wednesdays, 8.30 p.m. onwards: Comedy Knight – Evam brings you Chennai’s first-ever English stand-up comedy act (at Star Rock, Spring Hotel, Nungambakkam, ticketed).

Till October 28: Crafting History – an exhibition on Pulicat by Aarde Foundation. The exhibition is a continuation of the book Pulicat and Sadras, released in 2010 by Aarde Foundation and the School of Architecture and Planning, Anna University, Chennai.

The exhibition will project the cultural heritage of the village which can be traced back to 10th Century Chola period. The Portuguese in 1502 were followed by the Dutch in 1605 and they traded for more than two centuries before the British took over in 1825 (at DakshinaChitra Art Gallery).

Till October 31: Natraj S. presents a solo show, an exhibition of water colour paintings (at Apparao Galleries).

Till November 12: Recollections and Reconnections, recent paintings and drawings by S.G. Vasudev, a senior artist who is exhibiting his works in Chennai after several years in a solo show.

There will also be a screening of the film The Open Frame by film-maker Chetan Shah for the duration of the show. The film profiles the personal and artistic journey of S.G. Vasudev over the years (at Forum Art Gallery).
