Power-less

"I used to get 1000 watt ideas before this power cut, but now..."

Face it, Chennai, your citizens are suffering.

How?

In a word – Power.

As in being 'cut' or 'switched off'.

Very tough on everyone – ¬especially with weather now determinedly on full 'summer mode'.

Funny – how our authorities seem so unable to guarantee basic necessities.

Citizens, understandably, wonder: 'But isn't that their job?'

Yes – which makes this huge gap between 'I promise...' and 'I've redeemed...' a bit annoying.

They're doing their best, it seems, poor things.

Like, staggering the power cuts: 8 am – 10 am; 10 am – 12 noon ... and so on, to ensure "that the hardship to residents would be minimum."

A bit like being back in school, and having to remember time-tables.

Some have back-up systems to combat power cuts – nice for them, except when, with that twisted irony Fate is so fond of, the back-up systems pack up because of overuse.

We citizens need to step in too, you know – curb wastage and extravagance in power usage.

Meanwhile, your heart goes out – to places in the State far worse off than here; to the old and infirm and, above all, to children already burdened with those mind-bending 'exams' over the next few weeks.

People-in-charge, please sort this out.

And May the ...er... Powers be with you.
